Pietra Dura & Statement Floors

Pietra dura is the craft the Makrana quarries are known for: shaped pieces of stone cut so precisely that they meet without a visible joint. Our inlayers work the same way today, by hand, one piece at a time.

Floors are designed as a whole — a central medallion, borders and field — then cut, inlaid and dry-laid in the workshop so the pattern is proven before it reaches site.
